The Trucks: Shattered

The TrucksʻʻShatteredʼʼ

Quatro

Largely owing its sound to the suggestive electro of Peaches, The Trucks formed in March 2003 in Bellingham, WA in response to organizers of a music festival at Western Washington University who lamented the lack of female musicians participating in the lineup.

Starting the band with only a toy xylophone, bass, and Casio keyboard, the group includes Kristin Allen-Zito (vocals/keyboard), Marissa Moore (vocals/xylophone), Faith Reichel (bass/vocals), and later added Lindy McIntyre (formerly of Everybody’s Debbie) on drums. Its self-titled debut album The Trucks was issued on Clickpop/spinART in January 2007. In 2007 The Trucks also toured nationally (USA).

The Trucks are four females who will make you want to dance. The sound is Electro-pop meets northwest indie rock and it’s all dressed-up in fishnets, wigs, and colored tights. It isn’t all about stage flash and good looks. Behind each song’s fun, sexy, and boisterous exterior are smart, sassy lyrics that hold up to repeated listening. The Trucks mix feminism with a touch of debauchery and frank sexuality.

The Trucks‘ song, ʻʻShatteredʼʼ (from their debut album) is featured in the second episode of season five of the Showtime series The L Word (Look Out, Here They Come!).

In October 2008 The Trucks have declared they will play no more shows after November 8th 2008. However they released same year EP Never Forever and in March of 2018, the band reunited to perform at the What’s Up Magazine 20-year birthday celebration. They performed on Saturday, March 3rd at The Wild Buffalo, a bar/venue in downtown Bellingham.

What do they do apart? Faitie‘s a world-travelin. Kristin‘s been back in Bellingham and in 2010 Clickpop Records released her solo album The Atlas ‎(CD) with acoustic folksongs. No woinder, because she second generation singer/songwriter and daughter to folk singer Linda Allen. And earlier, in 2004 Clickpop Records released her solo Helium ‎(CD, album). She has also lived and performed in Seattle, WA and Brooklyn/NYC. Lindy‘s been lovin’ it up with the hot-hot-hub, and Maris is here there and everywhere.

Lyrics

You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me

No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me

I thought you were the one but i was wrong i was wrong
I thought you were the one but i was wrong i was wrong
HEY!!

You shattered my image of love when i was naked in the tub
You shattered my image of love so when i bit it was for blood

You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me
You could not keep your pretty hands off me

No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
No i won’t sit nice and be quiet
