Online Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) at University of Alabama
The University of Alabama (Alabama or UA) is a public research university located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States, and the flagship of the University of Alabama System. Founded in 1820, UA is the oldest and largest of the public universities in Alabama. UA offers programs of study in 13 academic divisions leading to doctoral degrees. The only publicly supported law school in the state is at UA. Other academic programs unavailable elsewhere in Alabama include doctoral programs in anthropology, communication and information sciences, metallurgical engineering, music, Romance languages, and social work.
The University of Alabama is an autonomous institution within the University of Alabama System, which is governed by the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama and headed by Chancellor of the University of Alabama. The university has a «high level» of research activity (below the highest «very high level» classification) and has a «comprehensive doctoral» graduate instructional program in the liberal arts, humanities, social sciences and STEM fields, though it lacks health and veterinary sciences professional programs.
With two nursing and seven education programs, Alabama offers more terminal degrees online than all but a handful of schools throughout the country. While all of these programs are classified as online or distance programs, some may require you to participate in on-campus activities from time to time. Check with the department chair for information on any specific program you may be interested in.
Alabama uses Blackboard to facilitate their online instruction. Here, students can watch lectures and interact with classmates and professors over email and discussion forums. The format allows students to collaborate in real time and helps engender the quality discussions and relationships that on-campus students enjoy. Distance learners can access all of the same resources as residential students, including the university’s digital library.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a joint program offered by The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing (UACCN), the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing (UABSON), and the University of Alabama in Huntsville College of Nursing (UAHCON).
